War face?

While I'm not a fan of the French there is nothing wrong with the French soldier. A soldier has to have 3 things to fight and win. A cause, decent weapons and good leadership. Where the French have been lacking is leadership. Leadership prior to a war is important because they insure that the troops are well trained and have decent weapons and equipment. Perfect example is the USSR during the Finnish war and during the early days of the German invasion. The Russians got their collective asses handed to them because Stalin had purged most of the competent senior leadership fearing they could be a threat to him. Some where shot and other imprisoned. Once Stalin realized his errors he 1: released the surviving senior officers and reinstated them and 2: figured out the average Russian wasn't going to fight for the USSR but they would fight for "Mother Russia" and 3: got decent weapons in the hands of the soldier.
